Hey guys, question for you especially those that are in to running.  Ok, since south shore I have had some pain running along the outside of my left foot.  It is in the heel area, so my first thought is PF.  I have been icing, rolling, stretching and repeat 2-4 times a day since then.  I went out and did a 55 min. ride and 30 min run today.  By then end of the run it was killing me.  If I focus on lifting my toes when I walk it doesn't hurt, but otherwise it does even to walk.

I have a 45 min run on the plan for tomorrow and 2 hours on Thursday.  I am thinking taking tomorrow and maybe turning it into a bike would be good and see how it feels on Thursday, or would you guys recommend something different??

I have arch supports for my dress shoes that I wear for work.  What else do you think??

Scott,

Is it worse first thing in the morning and get better during the day, or is the pain constant?

For most ortho injuries you should start with rest and ice.  I know it's hard to take a few days off, especially when your training has been going so well. However, pain is the body's way of telling you something isn't right.

I'd take a few days off and see how it goes. Let us know-

Craig

It is more constant than anything else.  I know a big sign of PF is pain in the morning, but this goes all day.  As I mentioned, biking doesn't seem to hurt, could I continue to ride and then ice and continue the stretch.

I'd say it is PF. I know it sucks to break from your training schedule but don't push it by running. A long time ago I had PF and continued to run in the pain - then I was off for 6 months.  I would ice and stretch as much as possible.  Does wrapping it make if feel in better  then you might get better support.  Swimming is the best.  I have read about PF and biking - so you need to be careful with that.  Even if it doesn't hurt you may still be stressing it. Do you wear your orthotics in your bike shoes?

How old are your running shoes?  You had the problem starting after South Shore only, or where there pains before that?

I have had some pain in a different part of the foot that stretching had gotten rid of.  The shoes I wore to SS had around 8 miles on them.  I am wondering if they were not broken in enough to run that far in.  It was been getting better this week, but I am going to hold off running a little longer.

I realized today today that I actually worked in 3 extra weeks for my plan so I have time to take a little running out

Watcha get - 205, 305???

Did a quick lunch swim today - 600 yards to get back into it.  Feel okay, but glad I didn't go farther.

Have a great weekend peeps, and have a blast hosting the post-ride bash on Sun., Craig.

I got the 205 - I don't track my heartrate because it never moves much.  I can be all out sprinting and barely reach 120.

Enjoy!  Our ride to day looked like a Garmin comercial (4 of 5) had them.

Just remember to hit the start button when you begin moving after a stop. We all seemed to have issue with that today.

5.85 miles tonight at a brisk pace.  With the forecast looking to be rain the next couple of days, I needed to hit the road.

Great job with the biking on Sun., Craig!

Bump because none of us have been posting including me!  So busy working, training and teaching. Not to mention mommying and daddying when daddy is gone.  Lake Geneva is a week from Saturday. I have not been putting in the miles like I should have so we will have to see what happens.  What is everyone else up to?

Hitting the training a little harder every week, but no real race planned.  Only one race signed up and really getting ready for is SOR at the end of July.  With 3 kids, and the 2 eldest in Little League, and having limited funds at this time due to planning on a couple of family vacations, I won't be doing any racing.   I'll train hard, though, since I have the time to do that at least.

Anyone else?  Craig has his hand's full this summer for sure.

So I guess most all of you have heard of my wonderful fall yesterday morning. Thank you for all the inspires. I just got done reading all of them. I am home and even hit the ellpitical today.  Breathing with a jaw wired shut is a little bit diffuclt but doable.

Now I just have to make sure I get enough nutrients. Got a great blender book from the Doc. even cheesburgers, spaghetti and meatballs and pizza. Problem is it would only take me all day to eat one of them.

Hello protein shakes, soup and baby food for the next 3 weeks. Then I get to move on to mushy foods and non chewables. Yum!  Hubby getting home soon with the Valium I hope.

Thanks again all.
