allezmama - 2008-03-04 4:01 AM Well...if the "Bajapat Mentor Group" isn't joining as a team, I'll join the "newbie" group. Patrick....are we in with you, as our fearless leader? Or are we hanging with other PEEP's??

Hi - there is a newbie team called the 'Seriously Spooky Cat's which includes a great team cheerleader zipp1 who is there for advice and motivation!

Jump into the team thread here: http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=105326&posts=57#M1250222

And say hello to the team! I will make sure they know you are coming

hmmm so we are talking... well some people still ride at 30kph on the road... its a nice pace = 3 hour HIM bike split!

But that would just be cruel... 100 miles is a good goal!

What about the other sports? What else are you aiming for this month?

I've spent most of my training time this week riding my bike, since I will be out of town next week and will only be able to run. If you don't hear from me for awhile, it is because I don't have access to a computer.

I'm here.....  still kickin'.  I swear, I feel like I could eat a cow every day.  I am in month two of my training and am ALWAYS looking for something to eat.  This happened last year, too - but I have found that I tend to be more lax with snacks because I'm like 'well, I AM working out 6 days of the week'.  I need to put more effort into logging my calories so I can continue to lose weight - not just maintain.

I had some icky news told to me this week - one of our local athletes - actually he went to Kona this year - suddenly passed away on Friday.  He was 50....  in tip-top shape, obvously....  he was like a brother to one of my freind's husbands.  Ugh.  The worst part (For me) is that they found a HUGE clot in one of his legs - (trying to determine if that is what caused his death) - which I also had back in Jan '07.  Shudder.  the hair on my neck is still standing up.  My experience was obviously more positive- they caught it when it was only from my foot to my knee.  I was  treated with blood thinners and basically made a full recovery in <6 months.  Also mine had a clear cause(the 'patch').   OK, so I am clearly seeing life in a new light - enjoy it every day and tell your friends and family that you love them, alot !!

So, that's what's going on with me.  Sorry to be a downer.... but I needed to let it out.  Anyway, I am going out tonight to celebrate my friend's 30th so that will help my mood!

The interview went well, but I am not interested in this job....  it was not enough travel for a sales job.  The other Boston opp. is still on the table - my co. has a hiring freeze now so I don't expect an offer until the end of this month at the earliest.

I am psyched for the expo too!!  Looking forward to meeting everyone.

that is sad news. i had a blood clot too in '06, i got it flying back from australia - it took them 7 weeks, a bunch of ultrasounds, MRIs and ultimately unnecessary surgery to realize that's what it was! I should have been on blood thinners and in the hospital immediately after stepping off the plane. you are doing a great job with the training Jen - keep up the good work!!

Oh, my gosh - really?  Wow.... I am finding out every day just how common this is.  Even Dick Cheney had one!

Thanks for the encouragement - you are SUPER consistent yourself!!  How is the bilateral breathing going??

Oh no, Pat!! Did you hurt it skiing?  My friend hurt her knee during our ski trip to UT and was convinced it was the 'trifecta' tear - but it turned out to be just a sprained knee.  Hopefully you will have a similar outcome!  Keep us posted.

Well it was a great day yesterday, my daugter and the ex came to the area and we skiied ALL DAY.. the ex went home and we were closing the mointain after one last run(i'm a ski ptroler remeber) so I told julia we needed to get to the bottem pretty quickly but she stopped really quickly and i wasn't able to and I ran right over her.. SOOOOO while trying to snowplow to stop my right leg pretty much did a 360 and i heard CRACK CRACK CRACK.... and i was soo unable to move.. So i radioed in that both julia and i was hurt but because i was so calm they didn't think there was much wrong until someone got there ans saw how bad i was hurting.. to off to the ed i went.there the doc said the x ray showed a lot of fluid in my knee and he is 99% sure my MCL is blown with the ACL. So i asked the doctor if i would be able to run after this was fixxed and he said sure....so i then told him good because i can't now

i'm in good spirts.. and i'll be your cheerleaders

I'm here!!  On my second water bottle of water.  Pat, you still need to keep drinking, your body needs hydration so that you can heal faster.  Don't think you're off the hook just because you're hurt!! ;>

I agree, Jen! Just because you're on the sidelines Mr. Bajapat, doesn't mean you can't be hanging out with us. I'm very sorry about your injury, just make sure you do what the dr. says...

I know I get busy and forget to log and check in sometimes...but, I'm really not sitting on the couch drinking beer....well, at least not today! This weekend will be a different story! I'm hitting the gym tomorrow at lunch, then probably nothing until Sunday. St. Patty's Day with my sister in Detroit...woo hoo. Guiness and potatoe bread, carbo loading at it's finest!

OK, my last name is O'Sullivan - so Mama, I am clearly going to be doing the same this weekend.  I am making Soda Bread on Sunday, and cooking Corned Beef, Cabbage, and Red Potatoes for my friends for dinner on Monday!! mmmmm

Guinness is Good For You.  Cheers.
