This has been a tough winter...although, I really haven't been sick..just lazy.

Another swim question for you guys: What's a good pace for 100 yds? I've never been a competitive swimmer so I really don't have a clue what would be a decent target to shoot for. I'm starting to feel a little more comfortable in the water, and would like to set a goal for myself. I'm not the slowest at the pool anymore, but I'm still swimming in the "slow" lane....any thoughts on a pace??

I do about 2:20 to 2:30 per 100 yards when I'm working out. I figure if I can do 500 yds in 11 minutes during a race, then I'm happy, since swimming is not my strong suit.

Anybody heard from Grimmco lately? He hasn't added anything to his training log in a few weeks. He's on the swim challenge and he hasn't added anything to the spreadsheet either. Hope he's okay.Frown

Thanks for the input...I'm swimming tonight, so I'll see where I'm at with my pace. I'm sure I'm all over the place, but I'll use my pace tonight for my starting point.

I hope "the grimmer" hasn't given up....I know it's sometimes difficult to keep checking in and logging, but....that's kind of a driver for me. When I get a "nudge" from our fearless leader, or one of you fellow "Bajapat groupies", I know it's time to get with the program. This time of year is so hard...cold, gray days and my kids are so busy with sports and music programs, it's hard to make time for myself. There's an article in the BT "articles" section written by Meg Lentz called "Willing Change"...it's very motivating for me, I keep it posted on the wall by my desk. Read it, if you haven't already....

Have a great (gray) day out there in the EAST....the sun is coming (someday).

I'm with you.  Swimming is not my strength; I do 100's in about 2:15-2:20.  I am taking a swim clinic next month, and hope to speed up..... I'll post what I learn!

I will pass....I start following my tri schedule tomorrow - I am following the TNT one that I had from the past and cycling varies...and my cycling club starts up this month and not sure how long the initial rides are. I have a 18 mile time trial on 3/15. And all I was told was to devote 9 to 5 on Sat for 8 weeks in a row to it!

Have a great weekend. I forced myself on the dreaded dreadmill yesterday for the first time in over a year. I REALLY hate that thing, but I must admit, I am thinking of going late back on it!

I could be in - although it's still kinda chilly here; I will be logging some of my hours on a spin bike.  I'm down for 10 hours in the month of March for my training plan, anyway.

i'll need to pass too. as you can see from my training log i'm on a pretty rigid training plan that I am trying really hard to stick to. if I stick to this, i am projected to finish mooseman oly in 2:50:00 - 2:56:00 - so I am really aiming for this.

cheryl, full days on the bike 9 to 5 for 8 weeks - you are hardcore girl!!!

guys it's not like you give up all other things.. it's you put down your number of hours or miles and hit it..

what ever your plan is just use those number for your month..

April side challenge? My mentor group is spread across several teams for this months challenge...

Pats right though.. its about a challenge for you - whether its a goal to meet the plan set by your coach, to build a strong base or just beat your ride time/distance for the previous month...

The best part of it is you are on a team where you regualrly inspire each other, talk to each other and help each other through...as well as the associated madness! (I mean who can take Peeps seriously?)

I guess its a one month extension of the support and friendship you get through the mentor program and there is a great sense of community from the challenges... and you get to meet more BTers!

Challenge officially kicks off saturday but I can find some room on a few of the teams if anyone is interested!

Happy Training

Well...if the "Bajapat Mentor Group" isn't joining as a team, I'll join the "newbie" group.

Patrick....are we in with you, as our fearless leader? Or are we hanging with other PEEP's??

Maybe some exercise would help you focus... release some of the pent up energy, nerves and frustration can be incredibly beneficial in helping you focus as long as you dont exhaust yourself.

8 hours of spin class!

Not bad considering I have a work conference in the middle of the month.... as well as a gym closure for 2 days and easter....

Oh and recovering from the calf strain I got last weekend in dance class, and trying to stop eating crap... Im doing so well I left all my food at home today!

And you?

On the trainer???

So that 160 kilometres, at say 30ks an hour..... which equals.... 5-6 hours?

(assuming on trainer and not in real life where one may have to alter tha pace to do such things as climbing hills... however yuo do get some free speed on the down hill!)
