What?!

Very carefully.  With a small knife.  Apparently, you've got some time on your hands, dude.

Still here....recovering from the flu. This has been a tough few months! Not much activity on the training. I hope you're recovery has been going well so far.

I'm traveling this next week for business, then off to Hilton Head, SC for some Spring Break time with my family. Planning lots of activities outside in the sunshine.

Good luck to everyone on your training!

This post is kinda long, but I wanted to let you know I didn't quit on you, I mean US!

hey everyone, long time. Didn't forget about you, I got kind of tied up with some work programs, keeping up the ranch, Biodiesel workshops, and trying to fit training in whenever I could. Thus, some of my internet time got put on hold. Did my first sprint at the Wildman two weeks ago on day 5 of the flu, ouch...overdosing on Sudafed and Dayquil (dehydration) for four days does not make a race any easier. BUT....it went better than imagined, and I finished...though it wasn't pretty.

The past month I have ramped up a bit, tomorrow is my 2nd race and it is a 1.5k/40k/10k. I don't know what I was thinking, but it sounded good at the time. My goal this year is to do the HIM in October, so this was to be the "half way there" race. This way I have 6 more months to polish off and be ready for all 70 miles.

I truly felt unprepared for this weekend, especially for the swim, and was preparing to bow out and do the sprint. However, last weekend I decided to take my next 3 training days and do each full leg. If I finished each section and felt good at the end I would go for it. Run went surprisingly decent, bike was good, then came the swim. In the long pool I was hoping to do about 1000m before taking a breather. Ended up doing 1.75m in about 1:15 and only stopped so I would have some way to improve next time. It wasn't fast, but after the pain subsided at around 600m, I turned into the energizer bunny, it felt grrrreeeeeeeaaaaaaattttttttt!!!!!!! (as Tony the Tiger would say)

Anyway, felt I needed to catch up since I have beel AWOL, I have been reading your posts to catch up. So I did not quit and we have not failed Bajapat, I would call this a success! What about the knee?

Is anyone coming down to sunny Florida for any races this year? I would love to meet you guys!

It was ugly, today's International, but I never walked (except to polish of some gatorade) or stopped. My time...ugly, but for a big guy (5'11" and still at almost 230) I was just happy to finish.

SO...Bajapat, this is as far as I have ever gotten....how do I transition my training to get to the next level and even longer races withut wrecking my shins or knees?

Help!

Pyro

Awesome job finishing, pyro!! I am so impressed that you did that with the flu!! I'm on week #4 of this bug, and have pretty much pared down my routine to work, eat, sleep. It's settled in my lungs, so breathing is exercise for me.

As for training....not that I'm an expert, but there are some great training programs here on the BT site. I know there are a few for going to that next level, they mix in endurance and strength workouts to get you to that next level. But....you may have already done that, so I'll leave the "mentoring" to Mr. Bajapat!

congrats again on the tri finishes!!
