I just got the TRX and that thing kicks my BUTT! I haven't devoted much time to it yet, but it is very versatile and fun. I am a big fan of body weight strength training so it works perfectly for me and takes us about 2 inches of space in my basement.

I work part time as a trainer, but not at a gym.  I use the local parks.  I drive around with a couple of sets of dumbbells, some stability balls, some medicine balls and some balance discs in the back of my car, but mostly, we use the benches, bars and ground at the park, adding weights as necessary. 

A thought:  Try starting with some pushups, dips, lunges, bicycles and plank...no equipement necessary...add weight for a challenge down the road.  Be creative!!!!

It looks like you could do most of the TRX with a set of rings as long as you can change their length.

Love it in a miserable sort of way.  OH holds and walking lunges with it are an incredible challenge.
