Well, I'm heading out of town tonight. Didn't get that second guitar session in. But I am making myself at least strum some cords on the way home to shower, get the suitcases, and switch cars before I head out.

I did get my swims in though. 900yds. 100 more than I planned. Wahoo!

How are we doing this week?

I hit my 3 swims this week, including a nice long workout. Woohoo!

I also had a really good week of training. Took Sunday off and played hockey on Saturday. ANd, this week, the weather is looking awesome!

Sp we did run and swim challenges, so next challenge should be on the bike, right?

Well my training plan this week calls for only two bikes, and one is weather dependant:

Mon - run 40 min
Tues - bike/run brick, core work
Wed - swim 30 min
Thurs - bike 30 min (t-weather), run 60 min
Fri - yoga, swim 30 min
Sat - OFF DAY!
Sun - hill repeats, run 40 min

Goal #1: THE BIKE.
Total distance, or total time. At the end, progress is measured as a percentage by your actual number/goal number.

FYI: Goal #2 this week is less about setting a goal, but more about just inspiring more than you might normally do.  Also, seeing what kind of workouts others do, including cross-training, and general blogging will help us get more insight into our own regimes.

Unfortunately, we've lost Salma, Lindsay and Paul to their own commitments or lack of time to spend online (some of us do play/work/live online more than others). Anyway, I've PM'd them a few times over the last couple of months and the messages are still unread. Cry

My bike goal for the week: 3x on the trainer.

As I was driving on the highway this weekend, I took note how clear the pavement was. No ice, no snow, especially on the shoulder. Hmmm. It's very tempting to get all bundled up and hit the highway. Problem is that all the guck, sand, salt and nuts & bolts got plowed onto the shoulder so it is pretty icky and a flat waiting to happen. We'll have to wait for the first of the spring showers (in April as it goes) to clean things up a bit.

Bopper, today I had a day like you had last week ... swam on my lunchbreak - felt like a brick in the water. Couldn't breath, kept getting water up my nose, my form was really off and I couldn't keep my kick under control. I'd stop to focus on my stroke, and my butt would sink ... I'd focus on proper form and my stroke got sloppy ... it was horrid!

Just thought I'd share with the class. ;-)

SpiritFire - 2008-03-11 5:22 PM Bopper, today I had a day like you had last week ... swam on my lunchbreak - felt like a brick in the water. Kudos to you for sticking it out. And, it's good to vent about off days...we all have them.

I've had days like that where I've just left the pool. Why practice struggle? I've come to know when I'm being lazy or I'm tired or unmotivated and need to kick my own butt, versus those times when I'm just not in the right training place and it's best to cut my losses before I hurt myself or get more discouraged.

jenni4 - 2008-03-12 7:59 AM Goal 1: Bike-Get the bike outside and pair it with some runs. If it's not raining.

Sigh...outside.

Actually, today would have been a great day to take the mountain bike out but I stuck to my scheduled run instead. I may be able to get the fat tires out yet this week.

Bopper - 2008-03-11 8:33 PM

My goals for this week... 3x on trainer... fits well with the challenge I'm in currently. There's no WAY I'm having a Peep as an Avatar. LOL

I will try to keep up my inspiring.. .but it's getting tougher, balancing everything. So if you don't hear from me... I"m just a little busy... but I'm thinkin' of everyone and trying to keep up with everyone.

No worries. Just keep on pedaling!

I'll raise you one mowed lawn for one indoor ride on the trainer.

My parents are visiting. Very small house + people who don't get along = disaster. I'm SO stressed out ... it's only day 3, and they are here for 6 more days. Training may be my only salvation, except that I must drink copious amounts of alcohol just to get through the evenings. Good thing this only happens twice a year.

Just had to vent. Thanks guys.

Hey all! Went to the cabin for my own little retreat...very peaceful. I could sometimes get a cell signal but the wireless data charges are like five hundred bucks a MB, seriously. Anyway, at least we have power but no phone or running water. Just read and worked on some projects without distraction. Well, the squirrel and Canada jays did get a little rowdy at times.

Anyway, I'm looking to dive into training hard core. Races are right around the corner with my first tri of the season being six weeks away.

The good news is that the snow is mostly off the road and I'll be getting commuter bike tuned up and on the road in a week. The pretty girl should be ready to go out in a couple of weeks (still too much guck on the road for the skinny tires IMHO).

I'm also going to do more strength training and cross-training to balance things out. I need to maintain muscle mass and lose some weight. Okay, lots of weight. It'll fly off once I get into a good routine and my medications kick in like they should (that is still questionable...grrr).
