Today was my first day in the pool and it went much better than I thought that it would. I am starting at the beginning of the sprint program and my task today was to swim 100 yards. I accomplished that although I had to rest every 25 yards. And now my arms are killing me. Then I made it to the gym at lunchtime and did the 5 walk/2 jog for 30 minutes, although, I only managed the 2 minutes of jogging once. Every other time it was 1:30. But I feel like I'm making progress

Good job on your swim and run!  Everyone has to start somewhere.  Be proud of what you can do today, because there are lots of PR's around the corner for you!  You are actually ahead of where I started.  I started at 4:30 walk/30 sec run.  Consistency is the key to getting better and more confident.  Keep up the good work.
You are working with a great mentor.  He's definitely been a great source of support and information for me!

Well, I actually started out at all walking the entire time and have progressed up to this point. There are times when I think I'm going to collapse from exhaustion on the treadmill but I'm going to keep going!!

One piece or two?

Sleeves or sleeveless?

I have no idea. I live in TN and the only race I know I'll need it for is IMFL.

So I got into the pool for the second time today and tried to swim with my face in the water and it seems as if I've forgotten how to do that. I tried a couple of times and found myself getting very out of breath. So, I swam my 100 yards with my face out of the water.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can relearn this?

Are there ANY local/regular races you'll do that are wetsuit legal?

None that I've done so far. Memphis in May is, depending on the weather, but i'm going to miss that one this year.

So Aaron I noticed at one time you were posting your calories per day a while back and I was wondering what your meals looked like that day. After my RMR I am trying to focus on getting my daily caloric needs and I am finding it hard to eat that much. I feel like I ate a ton yesterday and came nowhere near my requirements.

First Indoor Tri. Not too bad. I felt really good about my bike, but didn't do as good on the run and swim. It started out with the 10 min swim. I realize that I really need to work on the swim endurance, I started out pretty strong, but just got tired really quick. 5 min tranistion to the stationary bike went well, drank some water and got changed. Bike felt really good. I am really pleased with doing 10.15 miles in 30 mins. My goal was only 9 miles so I am really happy with 10. Another 5 mind transition to the run went ok, drank some more water and had a couple of Clif Shot Blocks. Run started out well. Most of my training so far was a split between run and walk. I did the first 10 mins just running at a slow and steady pace, but needed to do a little walking because my legs were getting very very tight. I felt good with energy, but my lower quads and calfs were getting really tight and hurting.

A good way to see where I was in my training. I know I need to get more into the workouts and not care if I am too tired. I think I am well on the way for the June Sprint Tri though.

Great Job Scott!!!

My wetsuit finally came in the mail today. I got a great deal, so it was worth the wait. I got a 08 blue seventy reaction for the 07 clearance price of $139. It fits perfect, nice & tight, but I can freely move my arms & don't feel restricted. I can't wait to try it in the water next week after I finally get a day off work.

I started running again & will stay off the tarmac. My legs are still sore from my 6 mile trail run Saturday. I'm pretty lucky because I have a dirt track 3 blocks away & live a few miles from a great park with lot's of running trails.

Hey!  Training is finally going really well for me and more importantly - I am sticking to it!!! (including logging on everyday to track my workouts)!  I quit my second job which opened up a TON of time each week and I have never felt better    I am volunteering at a local 5K this weekend... I wish that I were running in it but I think that volunteering will inspire me during Saturday's long run.

I hope that everyone's training is going well!

I'm doing ok. Injured my knee playing volleyball and am waiting until Monday, per the doctor's orders, to start back with the running and biking. I have been going to the pool in the meantime and forcing myself to swim with my face in the water for 25 yards at a time...over and over and over and over again. I think it's getting better, but I have a long way to go.

I switched to working out in the morning and that seems to be better for me, although I never would have believed it. I could definitely use a little more focus on my nutrition, but all my focus is on work right now. But I keep plugging along for my June 22 date.

I'm doing great! I have gotten a lot of new gear to include a brand new wetsuit, a road bike, & a pair of trail shoes. I'm trying to ramp up my work outs. If my sprint goes well in June, I may do an Oly in July on the same course. I'm supposed to be doing nothing but base work this year, but I don't think a few events will hurt me. I also have my first century planned for next month.
