Canadarn you will do great, just keep looking for the finish line Good luck to everyone who has a race this weekend, I will be in Ashville with our FF combat challenge relay team. We are down to 1:45 on our course, should be interesting to see if we pick up any speed on the official course. Had a great swim/run/swim this morning only 12 seconds off my PR for a 5K I am starting to get really jacked up for the Tri on the 31st. Still not sure I have been training like I should but I have time to work on that. I am thinking about signing up for the Midlands Tri in SC in June, looks like it would be a good one, and the money is going for Lymphoma and MDA so it is an entry fee well spent. Talk to you all when we get back from Ashville.

Looks like I won't be racing next weekend. I crashed on my bike yesterday and I have injured my right shoulder. I am unable to lift it above my head. I also obtained some pretty good road rash on my right elbow and arm and right hip, thigh and shin.

Scott and I had just started our 2.5 hr ride when my wheel got caught in a railroad track while going about 18 miles an hour. I am lucky I didn't hurt my than my shoulder.

I don't think I will be able to swim for awhile but I am hoping the pain is just related to bruising inside my shoulder from the fall. I have been taking Advil and icing. My back muscles are sore as well so I am going to have Scott massage them tonight to see if the loosens them up and allows me to be able to more my arm/shoulder more.

I hope you all had a great weekend and got in your workouts safely!

Leanne

OH that really sucks Leanne! I'm so sorry you got hurt but glad to hear that nothing's broken! I hate going over train tracks - I always cross at an angle. Hope you heal quickly

Sorry to hear about your wreck Leanne, I hope you will be back soon.

We did the Firefighter Combat Challenge in Ashville Saturday afternoon, it was a lot of fun and although we did not make it to the finals, we did finish in under 2 minutes which qualifies us to go to the Worlds in Las Vegas in November. Now we have 5 months to prepare and lower our times to a competitive 1:30 or less. I began the morning with a nice run from the motel to the Blueridge Parkway and then to the competition site and back to the motel, about 2.8 miles plus a .33 cool down. Now I am focusing on this Saturdays tri in China Grove. My legs feel great and I am really comfortable with the swim and I enjoy cycling too much not to be ready for that Hope everyone else is doing well and having fun.

Andrew...congrats on finishing your first triathlon! That rocks! They definately are addictive and it's funny how we get hooked on putting our bodies through all that! It's just like a 'runner's high'...during my first marathon I kept thinking to myself...'why in the hell did I pay money to put myself through this pain?'. And then after it was over, I couldn't wait to do another!

I went to the Orthopedic MD today. He diagnosed me with 'impingement sydrome' in my right shoulder. He thinks the inflammation in my shoulder is causing this and told me to take anti-inflammatories around the clock and order physical therapy for me. My range of motion is improving, I just cannot lift my right arm above my head without extreme pain. He said to not even attempt swimming for a few weeks. This concerns me as I am training for my half. I am still able to bike (well I've only been riding the trainer) and run. So...hopefully I'll be ok.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Cheap and relaxing, come to NC and visit Biltmore Mansion in Ashville. It should be about 7 or 8 hours from you. The have good places to ride and run so bring your bikes and they also have tours or the mansion, wine tasting from the winery on the grounds and many other things. Here is the website, let me know if you are coming and I will try to findout if anyone I know has tickets for the place.

If you are looking for a beach Leanne has hit the nail on the head! All the above are great choices and you will have a blast...even if you do leave your bike at home, but don't blame us if it gets jealous and you find a flat tire somewhere along your next ride lmao. Congrats and good luck to you both.
