Congrats Kelownagirl way to go! BTW nice blog.

Leanne how is the recovery coming, are you close to getting back into training?

What is everyone else up to? I have to sign up for a Tri soon, just not sure where. Has to be close by either a short drive or bike ride as high as gas is getting. Talk to you all soon.

Hey Guys!

Well, the training is coming along ok except for my swimming. I am still not able to lift my arm above my head without pain but I do think it's improving. I went to the pool last Friday with Scott and my goal was to get both arms above my head on the flutter board. Took me nearly 15 mins to do but I finally did. The pain is getting it to and from that position. I guess for now with swimming I just need to get in the pool and focus on using the kick board and just hope that soon my arms will work. I was going to swim this morning but my arm is achey (from the stretches and exercises I have been doing and my legs are spent from my weekend workouts).

Biking and running are no problem. I biked 40 miles on Saturday and ran 10 miles on Sunday.

Barb...congrats on your race!!

I am anxious to hear how Mike's wedding went this weekend and to find out where he went?

Andrew...where in NC do you live again? Have you checked the Set Up Events webpage to look for trialthons in NC. There is the NC series as well as the Try Series that are always great races. My hubby works for Set Up in the summer and works about 10 races a year. I generally race the ones he works and I have not been to a bad one yet!

Leanne

I am glad to hear your recovery is coming along well, give it time and you will be 100% in no time. Remember pain is weakness leaving the body, so I figure you will be Wonder Woman by the time you are pain free :D.

I am out here in the Charlotte area. I have Setup Event as one of my book marks, and I thinnk we are wanting to use them next year for the Godstock Triathlon in China Grove, NC. I have found some good ones, just tri-ing to (sorry about the pun) to keep it close to home due to rising fuel costs. I will be running a small 5K in China Grove this Friday night. Starts at 2000 hrs out and back.

How is everyone getting along. It has been a very busy few week for me. I am in a hotel in Sidney Ohio. Looks like I will be here til End of August. Since my IM is the end of August it really complicates things. This week was kind of a bust triing to fiure out the lay of the land. I went for a 2 hr run tonight and found a great road. 15 mile run and I was beat when I returned.Only getting 5 hrs sleep for last two nights. The high light was I met a biker and he swapped out cell numbers. They ride Tue and thur evenings, How lucky was that. Now I have a place to swim, Found a good road to run and have a good lead for bike rides.

All I need to do now is work in a family vacation around the 4th. I think I can fly every one to OBX, outerbanks and I can fly in to meet them. That will rock. Looking at my scheduke it is a cut back week....that must be an omen....

Sorry  I have not been around lately .... no web connection during thr days... yet......greg

Hey all

Been out of it myself Greg. I ran that day in the heat and have done some swimming since but I have really dropped off alot here in the past couple of days. I guess I am not staring down another tri for a few months and I am getting lazy. I am going to ride in the China Grove Mainstreet Challenge tonight at 2100 hrs. I am going to ride my Cervelo from work to the starting point and then do the 5K with my oldest daughter. I have plenty of water, gatorade and accelerade this time as well as a few gu's and other snacks. I want to see how well i do on a longer bike ride and a flat run, so this may work out well. If not another lesson learned I hope everyone else is doing well. I will post the race results once I get them.

Just got home a little while ago and what a good day of training. I rode 16.89 miles to the race in China Grove then pulled off a nice 5K time. I am pretty happy with it, and this time I didn't cramp up as bad as I have in the past. I stayed hydrated throughout the day and took plenty of water,Accelerade and Gatorade for the ride and also a few gu's. My daughter did an outstanding job for her first 5K, she ran/walked it in 40 mins. I am just glad she didn't quit and finished it. she told me it crossed her mind but my youngest ran with her for the last litle bit. She told her big sister that if she could finish a tri with a flat tire on her bike, her big sister could finish this race, it was too cool. I'll post the race blog tomorrow.

Thanks Leanne
I was really happy with the ride/run yesterday. I talked my 15 yo daughter into this at the last minute, she spent yesterday hydrating and resting. She didn't train for it other than her running a couple of miles every once in a while with her JROTC group. She finished in about 40 minutes doing a run/walk. It makes me laugh, she starts out really strong then bonks out, rests and goes hard again, bonks out, rests etc, etc. If she ever learns how to pace herself she will do really well in these sports. She is the same way when we go cycling, she'll hammer and leave me in the dust trying to catch her, then she'll slow down and complain she's tired then do it all over again lol. I already managed to get my youngest to do her first triathlon, 50 yard swim,1.5 mile bike, and 3/4 mile run. She is 9 yo and finished in 30 mins, and rode the whole bike leg with a flat rear tire. That earned her a new bike we are picking it up next week.

I hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

Greg, I bet you look like a prune all shriveled up from being in the water that much. Have you began to grow gills?

I have signed up for 2 more triathlons, 7/19 the J.F. Hurley Formula 1 Sprint in Salisbury NC and the Bandits Challenge in North Wilksboro.

Here are the links below:

This is getting to become habit forming...and I really like it! I hope everyone else is doing well.

Andrew,

I was like a prune after the 1:26 swim .... funny you would say that I could feel the change in my hands as I swam ..... It is crazy to think we do a HIM effort each weekend.....

Glad to see you are setting goal and knocking them out. Thats the way to keep it fun.
