I totally hosed up. I signed up for a triathlon (High Cliff Triathlon), without realizing that I had a wedding to attend which my girlfriend is in. Gaaah, I got a lot of heat about that... and I feel crappy.

Does anybody know if the Midwest Sports Events coordinators would allow a race transfer from person to person? It says no race fee transfer from race to race and no refund, so I understand that isn't an option.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

It really depends on the race, the director, etc. Send him an email and see what he says. Good luck.

Oh, and have fun at that wedding .

I emailed the event director to see if I can transfer from person to person. If not, oh well, it was only 38 bucks. Hopefully I can transfer to somebody else!

This is a great example of it being easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. Isn't that a rule?

Can't you get a stand in to go to the wedding?

(It took me 2 months to tell my wife I signed up for IMKY next year)

you need to make ure you express just how miserable you are during the wedding and reception. Make sure she realizes just how much you sacrafice for her.

If sweet talking the race director does not work you could always dress someone up to look exactly like your ID photo and they could do the triathlon under your name.

How about having a stand in for the wedding and run your race. I'd hate to see you pass up an opportunity to PR.

Wife dropping me at the dealership to pick up my car ... as I transfer my golf clubs over to my trunk and prepare to go meet my buddy on the links ... "Have fun golfing sweetheart, ON OUR ANNIVERSARY."

It's a few years later, and I'm still married.  Buy her some chocolates and flowers.  If she can't handle it, move on.

I guess I'm just whipped, I know it'll mean a lot to her if I go.

On another note, I think I'll sign up for the Pleasant Prairie Tri instead. If I have the Oshkosh Tri the weekend before, would it be crazy for me to do the Pleasant Prairie the next weekend? (oly for both)

Oh it's not that it will mean much to her if you DO go, it's what it would mean to her if you DIDN'T go.

Around here, triathlons are usually, and weddings are rarely, in the morning. Where's the conflict?

Cool

And if she's standing up, won't you be sitting around somewhere else while she gets hair, manicure, pedicure, makeup, dressed, etc???  At this point, running the tri would be a FAVOR to her so that she won't be distracted by you when she really needs to give her full attention to the bride. See?  Easy.

Where's the wedding? It's only 1.5 hours from Highcliff to Pewaukee

There's going to be a big BT turnout at HC with a great post race party (if this helps to change your mind )

I don't really see how you have any choice in the matter. Clearly, you've got to somehow get the couple to break up. Do you know any of the groom's ex-girlfriends, by any chance?

If the RD allows a transfer, I'll take your registration.

FWIW, A race that posted no transfers on their website let me do one last year (Door County). Sometimes they just post that to avoid mass chaos.
