Subject: starting new challenge?
Back in November, I think I read you guys were thinking of starting a new weight loss challenge? Any ideas about that? Who is up for it? I don't recall the idea...maybe it was teams sort of like biggest loser? I don't really remember. After losing 75 pounds...I gained back about 12-14 depending on the day this Fall. It scares me and I need to lose more.

I need motivation and I'm starting tomorrow and am committing to 2 months of being strict? Anyone else?
Kathy

The Discovery channel is going to host another National Body Challenge beginning January 15th. It might be fun to coordinate a new challenge with that. You can find out all about it at this URL:

http://health.discovery.com/convergence/nationalbodychallenge2005/n...

You can either weigh in on your own at home or go to a Discovery channel store and weigh in. They provide you with access to lots of great online tools like a free 8-week eDiets membership and also a free 8-week Bally's membership.

I'm in as well. Christmas put me deep in the hole this year and gave me the wake up call I think I needed.
What's the plan?

I am afraid to get on the scale.... I just read August 2004 National Geographic about the heavy cost of Fat! Yikes!

Don't kick me in the pants - they may split open!

I suppose the first thing we need to do is hop on the scale and admit to ourselves (and each other) what the number is. I'll report back tomorrow what my scale really says.

We all agree we want to do a new challenge!! Great!!

How about sharing some ideas on how to set it up? Team concept like on TV's Biggest Loser...get support, a bit of a challenge and something different. Continue on like you were doing weekly report? Set a time period say 2 months to start and then decide if we want to keep going. Any other ideas, suggestions?

I'd like to start this very soon since I'm on my eatting program starting yesterday.

My suggestion is to have two teams so we can easilyy add people if they want to join later. See which team losing largest % of body weight. Some people have a little to lose and others more by doing a % is it more fair to everyone. We could have a thread for support for each team and once a week weigh in and come up with team loss % and compare. We'd divide teams someone evenly...men and women, by how much someone wants to lose so the teams are balanced. Working as a team hopefully we would feel motivated to keep at it and be part of the team. Maybe each week the winning team can come up with some type of activity to assign the other team to try and do.

Like for me...I'm a 43 women who would like to lose 44 pounds. On the other team we'd pick someone with similar weight loss goals...try to match men/women and age since all those factors influence weight loss.

Any other ideas? Suggestions?

Kathy

OK, I'm counting 18 people so far. How about everyone post age, goal info, etc so we can split up? also, what training program are you on, ie "16 week sprint", etc.

I'm 23
5'1, medium frame
current- 148
goal- 120
training program- 1/2 marathon (5-7-05) but starting the 1/2 IM in march for race 7-16-05

Sigh... I'll try again. I came unglued during the last challenge and actually gained weight. THAT was brilliant

Anyway, I'm
46
tiny frame, except it's covered with
140 pounds -as of January 1
goal: 110
training regimen -unstructured really.. I'm training for sprints and gentle endurance cycling events -centuries and metric centuries and a few multi-day 500-ish mile rides -not races
