It is always nice to look back and see how far you have come and what you have accomplished in a year.  I swam my first 100 yards without stopping.  I ran 3 miles and bike for 13.  Now I can swim 2 miles, run 7 and bike 40.  I hope to double that by the end of the year.

What were you doing a year ago?

I've actually regressed a bit since last year (lack of motivation over the winter due to being in the NE instead of the south...stupid cold/snow/ice/not being 80 in February).

Last Memorial Day weekend I raced a sprint in Nashville and came in 8th out of 350.

Well for me one year ago today....

I was recovering from gastric by pass surgery and I weighed 390 lbs down from 413 If you would have told me that I would be running Boise 70.3 in a year I would have bet my house against the Idea. I am now down a total of 150lbs and I WILL FINISH BOISE!!!!!

Hehe, on May 22nd of last year, I had an "off-day", so I went rock-climbing and did yoga.

Basically, I'd just started my triathlon training a week before.

Nothing special, a 2500 yard swim set. Looks like my 100s have gotten faster, though.

I can guarantee I was stressing about Eagleman -- it was only 3 weeks away. As it turns out, I had a good day, and a lot of fun.

WOW! Congratulations on taking control of getting your health back! Great story you got there!

Let's see... May 22, 2007... I was preparing for my first Oly that was coming up on that weekend. Unfortunately it got rained out and I didn't get to race.

I rode that day and averaged 14.10 mph. I NEVER see an average like that on my bike computer anymore. Not that I'm breaking records now days, but I am faster.

I was in training for my first race ever -- a 5K on June 10th, 2007.  I thought 3.1 was a long run!!   I just did my first half marathon last weekend.

one year ago i would have never believed that i would be losing weight (52pounds so far) and training for a triathlon. i was probably finishing up a school year (teaching rocks) and laying on a raft in my pool working on my tan! now i work on my tan while walking or biking or cruising to the trail with the top down on the car. can't wait to see where i'll be next year!

One year ago I was in "training" for my first sprint.  All biking was done on a stationary bike, rarely ran outside and couldn't do more than four miles.

One year later I am training for my first HIM in June, have done 3 hours on my bike, and have done a half-mary.

Let's see: recovering from a knee injury so I was just starting to walk on the treadmill again (now I'm doing my first half mary in a week); I'd started swimming the month before so I was near-drowning about three times a week and barely able to swim 100y (I still suck at swimming but can go a mile no problem); I hadn't bought a bike yet, so there was literally nothing going on there (my longest ride to date is 50 miles, although I've been slacking lately).

Not a bad year!

A year ago today I was training for my return to the sport after a year off. I had a horrible 4 mile run at a 10:45/mi pace. I now average around 8/mi.

One year ago today, my training log has a lovely rant about Charlie Yu's letter in Triathlete where he said that only people who have done Kona are actually an Ironman.

Idiot.

Re-read that issue the other day. Still makes my blood boil, despite the seemingly endless discussion surrounding that moron's letter.

Hurray for more than 12 mos. logging on BT...

A year ago, I had just gotten back the day before from Bay to Breakers (which I ran 3 minutes faster last weekend). I went out for an 18 mi. ride at about 14 mph in the AM, weighed in at 169, then went to work.

Today I did a short tempo run (5K at 7:15/mi.-ish) after biking about 28 mi. yesterday. Weighed 162.5 after run this morning. Then went to my new job...which sucks right now....missing old job today, actually...

So maybe looking back 12 mos. wasn't such a cool thing today, after all.

I was wondering how to focus at work until training time, so I could get ready for Mooseman.

Hmm..kind of like today.

I had more spring training under my belt last year, but weighed 4 lbs. more, too.  Would really like to be speedy at Moosey this year.

Holy crap. Fantastic. You guys, seriously. I love it.

A year ago today I was drinking way too much, having come to terms with my age putting me past football and not knowing what I could do next other than sit around and wait for age to slap me around. Watching too much TV and not getting any workouts in at all.

A year ago today I just just gotten married (May 18th) and was on our way to our honeymoon in the Bahamas. How much has changed in a year....I stopped working out, moved to BFE Pennsylvania, started a new job, etc.

I am finally now getting some fitness back and actually looking forward to racing again.

I hope in a year from now I am in a MUCH better place (mentally, physically)!
