I don't know if it is possible to be colder than ST Patty's...I am out this year, have a little thing called Longhorn going on.

I'll be cheering my wife on at the Denton race. I'm looking forward to being a spectator. I'll be the one chasing my son and daughter while trying to take pictures.
My 2 year old son took a poop on the sidewalk while my wife was taking pictures at Lonestar this year. I guess I should bring some plastic bags. Good Luck everyone.

I am thinking about signing up for both races...  $98 for 2 local races is not bad at all.

I'm in for the Keller race.  First race back in DFW since I left a couple years ago!  I'm really excited to be coming back.  Hope to catch a few BT'ers!

I'm in! Anyone dressing up? Costume ideas? Perhaps us BT'ers can have a theme and take a group pic?

I try not to miss the (original) Monster, but like Big D, will be (hopefully) tearing it up down in Austin. Maybe next year the schedules will be better.

to Marci - what? you have a change of heart? Glad you'll be out there.

to JCBolton - welcome back - sorry to miss you.

I'm not doing the Benbrook but my Mom is.  She is so very nervous as this is her first tri.  Acutally, my sister is also doing this tri and it will be her first.  I will be there to support both of them!  I can't wait!!!

Just found that there is a Texas section and a thread for the Monster forum all in one day. Good luck to all. this will be my first tri. Not worried about the bike or run much but worried about the swim. Been training that aspect more for 6 weeks now but it seems like I am just trying to stay alive for 300+ meters. Hopefully 3 more weeks of training will help. If you see someone getting taken out by the lifeguards after 100M that is probably me. If you see me do something at is not Tri appropriate please let me know so I don't do it again for the next one.

Did the Benbrook women's tri this last weekend, would have placed 3rd overall but got DQ'd...this was my first tri, my biggest suggestion for newbie's is to pay VERY close attention in the pre-reace meeting, if you don't you'll pay for it later like I did, which is very dissapointing when you have a PR in both your swim and run :S

Monster I & II will be my first tris.  Looking forward to getting through them.

Was reading some other posts and one person was DQed.  I am really trying not to look like that first newbie at a race, which is probably unavoidable, but how easy is it to get DQ or get a penalty?  What are some things to look out for in general?

Any advice appreciated!

well i was DQ'd in my first one for not buckling my helmet and lost 4 min the next tri for drafting on the bike. So my advice would be to avoid those 2 things and you won't be in trouble.
