Austin, Texas

Endorfun Sports
Total Time = 5h 15m 7s
Overall Rank = 353/1991
Age Group = M40-44
Age Group Rank = 49/251
Pre-race routine:

Up at about 5. A couple of English muffins, some Gatorade, and a Clif bar.
Event warmup:

None to speak of!
Swim
  • 36m 27s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

Decent swim for almost no training. I think it took a lot more out of me than I realized at the time, though.

Drafting was non-existent for a major portion, though. I thought my navigation was very good, but it seemed like I was isolated for a lot of the race. I did find some feet on the middle third of the course.
What would you do differently?:

I don't have any excuses from here on out. My endless pool should be up and running within the next week or so.
Transition 1
  • 03m 32s
Comments:

Getting the wetsuit back in the bag was a bit of a challenge, but I finally managed.
Bike
  • 2h 29m 33s
  • 56 miles
  • 22.47 mile/hr
Comments:

Rode a little under my power goal and what I had ridden in training and even that felt harder than it should have. Like I said, it was probably because the swim took more out of me than it should have.
Transition 2
  • 02m 30s
Comments:

Pretty standard transition, despite the split.
Run
  • 2h 03m 4s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Ugh. Cramps, side stitches, numbness in my feet. Just all kinds of problems.
Post race
Event comments:

A typical, top-notch Endorfun production. The arena finish was awesome. Having everyone basically captive provided a lot of energy for the finishers.

Solid swim and bike ... based upon those two and the comments, the run sounded "endless" and painful!  That said, even without the training you said was missed, you posted a solid, solid finishing time.

And that is a great way to end up a season.
