no problem...i must have been daydreaming about the XXX race.

So who's doing it?  Its USAT sanctioned this year, think that'll change its dynamic at all?

Did y'all see the course change?  LIES!  They said that the bike distance is the same but they clearly say its 13.5 now when it used to be about 14.5.

I'm actually a little disappointed as it will be my only repeat race this year and wanted something to compare this year to last (though my new bike and dork lid would have skewed it as well).

Yeah I did.  I might have to get out there and give it a ride.  Mapping it out the other day it showed like a 400-600ft climb between miles 8-9 I think.

Oh well.  I like how its pretty straight on and not so many sharp turns to slow down.

Sweet....hills are fun!  Agree, the course looks pretty straightforward.  One tight turn at 6.5 or so, but that looks to be the worst.

I've ridden the new course a couple of times. It is definitely easier than the old course. Rollers pretty much the whole time, a couple of steady inclines on Nicodemus and towards the end of Bloom Rd.

The corner from 27 onto Nicodemus is pretty sharp, other than that no problems.

I'll be doing the course again tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2:30 with someone from my tri club, followed by the run course, if anyone is interested.

CJ, is Joe racing?

I'm just hoping to survive.  Not expecting anything on zero training since Columbia (seriously, not a single lick of anything) and barely more than that before Columbia.

I believe he is.  I talked to him yesterday and he pulled out of E-man after a 2:15 bike.  Just had no pop in the legs.  Not sure if this good and increases your chances of winning or allows him to be a lot "fresher" Wink

Dude, the chance of me winning is about as good as my oldest learning how to swim - slim to none!

You know what's going on with my training.  If I am even remotely in the ballpark of my AG I will be happy.  I have zero expectations to place this year, even if it is a smaller race.

Yeah, I'd pull out after that bike leg, frankly that time is embarrassing.  IMHO anything under 25 mph and I'd and fake injury.

Let him know there's a new Joe gunning for the top spot on Sunday (that last comment should include the sarcasm too, but I'm a big fan of trash talk, especially to people who I don't know and who I don't have a chance at beating).

Joe's the guy who actually HAS won the race the last couple of years.

The second place guy from last year is racing too, but I wouldn't expect much out him this year.  His training is incredibly behind what it used to be and he has a health issue inhibiting things to boot.

I know, my name is Joe too, hence the "new" Joe gunning for the top spot.  CJ pointed out to me before, I did beat him in the run split last year... (though I'm nowhere near the rest of the splits).

I will say though you out split him by only like 11 seconds!

Also the swim waves are up.  I'm in wave #2 at 7:05!  Thank god!

Somebody has to beat Joe this year, who's it gonna be? He's won this thing too many times by now.

I'm out - so it won't be me!

I was on the web site the other day and couldn't find the new bike course map - anybody have a link to it?

They've emailed it out a couple times, not sure if they've posted it though.  Here it is in mapmyride: http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/md/9%2c-franklin/934127276991552061
Just don't trust the elevation info, mapmyride seems to be consistently low when reporting total elevation gains/losses.

Yeah, but I've gotten faster...has he?  Wait don't answer that, I don't need my spirit crushed just yet.

I didn't realize how long it takes to start everyone, I'll be at the race with my roommate, my gf, and her roommate, and if all goes right, I'll be done well before any of them even start.  I'm at 7:18, I forget my swim time I put, but I think it was slower than I'll actually swim, I was nervous about that auto-DQ cutoff time.

CJ and James (or anyone else) - you guys know any of the other M25-29s?  I need a scouting report.

I saw the D'angelo guy who finished in 4th place after me last year is back.  Not sure about everyone else.

I'm hoping for a 3rd place again.  There is no way I can keep up with James and Scott on the run.

James are you wearing your smirf helmet again?

Thanks for the link! I've ridden all these roads before - they're nice roads for riding.

But, I think they made the new bike course more boring - The Gillis Falls Road 'roller coaster' was my highlight of the race! 36 mph downhills and out of the saddle climbs, one after another. Then all the downhill sharp turns. And the final climb up Skidmore - I'll miss all that fun. The new course is a bit more 'vanilla'.

Plus the bike and the run course now overlap on Liberty Road. Wonder how that will play out?

Too funny.  I'm right near James.  Guess we'll be pretty close together until the run. Money mouth

My goal?  Catch CJ.

(Seriously, I know that ain't gonna happen).

Weather forcast for Westminster is 92 and sunny on Sunday.  Was a bit worried yesterday when I saw 97 and sunny for Sunday.  Lets hope its not Eagleman part 2 weather.  Also, I know they put the fast people first because logistically it makes sense, but it stinks for the slower/newer people who aren't going out until after 9 and will have to deal with worse heat/sun, and who will probably have a harder time dealing with it than the faster people would.

Good point, though they are mitigating that a little bit with the use of the 2nd pool, it looks like they're actually going to start the slowest folks there and work backwards.
