Anyone? Anyone?

Does anybody here know of a discount code? I'm about to register. I was waiting until after my A race to be sure I wanted to do it. Now I definitely want to do it.

You're an animal Alice - and I think it's freaking awesome! Sorry, I'm of no help for a discount code though. Looking forward to seeing you and David on Sunday!

I think i'm in. I promised my brother 4 months ago I would run it with him. I am a little nervous though because my longest run has only been 15.5 miles, and that was 2 weeks ago. Then I had a 2 week taper for Rev3. Now i'm in recovery mode, but just about ready to start running. I have no idea what I should do as far as training to have a successful marathon while avoiding injury at the same time.

Take it easy! Just do some short runs for a rew weeks, you won't loose that much fitness. Build yourself a plan (be conservative) and stick with it.

I'm not thinking of it as peaking for something new - I'm thinking of it as: I built up all this fitness over the whole year, and I only ended up using it for one thing. So I'd like to go ahead and get a little more out of it.

I don't think I need to do a ton of training or long stuff. Basically, I just ran a marathon Sunday. So I'm sure I can do a marathon on the fitness I have now.

I'm going to recover, then just run when I feel like it.

Dan - I did Toyota HIM last year and then Columbus Marathon. I think I did one or two long weekend runs, but that was it. The major thing I did was I quit swimming and biking almost completely, and I got a lot more short weekday runs in. Nothing crazy or fast. Just some different kind of volume. The previous year I was a slave to my long weekend runs, but didn't do the weekday stuff, and it was a disaster. So I learned the value of the cumulative total of the shorter weekday stuff.

I get that. I know I should take some time off because of this Achilles thing that's been bugging me but I don't want to waste this opportunity. But instead of going long I'm gonna try and go fast. I'm going to try and go sub 20 in a 5K and PR a 10K (under 44:53).

I would like another shot at a Marathon (I was on a 3:50 pace until I hit that Mile 20 wall and straggled in @ 4:18) but I definitely want to give it an "A" race effort. I'll probably aim for the Flying Pig next year (or maybe I'll wimp out and do Xenia since it is sooooo flat).

Sounds great!
My plan for next year is to go back to shorter tris and attempt to go fast.

I didn't know about Xenia. Interesting!

I signed up for the half.  This is the first road race I have ever done besides 5ks in Sprints.  Do they have mile markers for each mile so I can track my pace?

I'm in for the half. I was going to do Akron this weekend, but just don't feel like it after Rev3 Half. Need to pick up the running though. Plan to do my first full in Vegas Dec. 5th. Good luck to all.

It's official, I just signed up. I'm in corral #3. I don't think I could have been in corral #2 because of my Pittsburgh marathon time. I certainly hope to finish with the #2 folks though

Yay Dan!

I have pledged to wear green shorts so people can find me. The green shorts are starting to get a bit old and worn, but it really does make me easy to spot, so I will make the sacrifice.
I can also guarantee a white hat.

The rest I'm not sure about.

I'm signed up for the half but haven't decided if I'm running it or not.  I've barely run at all since school started - I come home and never make it back out the door.  I'm going to see how the next 2 weeks are...if I do decide to run it's going to have to be a run/walk, but I'm not even sure I'm ready to do that Frown.  We'll see!

Is anyone going down from Westerville?
I'd be interested in carpooling. I can drive or be driven - whatever.

It might not make much sense for you, but you're more than welcome to ride with me and my brother. We will be leaving from my house (Hilliard) and parking in the parking garage at my work (c/o High & Mound - free). It's about a 3 block walk to the race start. Its at least double that back to the garage from the finish.

Thanks for the offer Dan. I think that would end up being the same amount of driving. I can manage the parking. I was just hoping to avoid wasting the gas, if someone else is going that way. Plus I have to pick up my kids in Westerville between the marathon and Jimmy's. So that would be twice going back and forth to Hilliard.  Thanks though!
