I'm in for the full!  Ran it last year, hoping for the same weather, and to take off 5.5 mins to get a BQ!

Sweet! Wish you all the best. I just registered about 30 minutes ago for the half.

I'm doing the full... I won't be BQ though   Mostly happy if I can get my mileage up and stay injury free.

I'm shooting for it, depends on the knee tendonitis. Sure enjoyed it last year.

Yeah, I am in for the full.  I've never ran a full before, and just did my first half last Sunday.  Hopefully the weather is nice!  See you all there

The way you've been throwing in the 12- and 13-milers, your biggest challenge is holding back enough that you don't get injured before the day...

I wish I had more 12-13 milers...this first half-mary that I ran last sunday was my first run of any kind over 10 miles.  I think the longest race I had done before that was the Pensacola Double Bridge Run (a 15k).  I'm interested in seeing how the marathon affects my body; it's all in preparation for CdA.

How's the Seattle course?

Marathon course is the same as the half, except for 13.1 miles of pancake flat highway running in the middle of the half. At about mile 7 of the half, you go up the Galer St. hill, which the last two years I've run the race has resulted in me completely blowing up. Pretty rolling for the last 6 miles, but if you pace yourself and run tangents, its not terrible.

90% sure I'll do the half. I have 16 houseguests that weekend (18 here for Thanksgiving, 16 staying with me, yikes! at least 7 are kids...). Anyway, that's the plan and I hope I can pull it off. I'll need some time away but hope I'm not crazy exhausted with sore feet come Sunday, ha!!

Thinking of coming down from Victoria to run the half, sounds like some of you have done it before, anyone care to give a little course description for those of us thinking of doing it. Mile by mile breakdown would be best.

For the full:

slight hill the first mile up 5th avenue - this area usually messes up Garmins because of all of the tall buildings

Then 2-6 miles are an out and back via the express lane on I-90 (turn around on mercer island tunnel).

13.1 mark is during the loop at seward park.  Everything so far has been mostly/entirely flat

mile 19 I think is where the hills start.  There are several (Galer, Madison, then through the arboretum.  I don't remember the names, I was just trying to survive at this point. ).

the last 2 miles or so are pretty flat.

The website has a pretty good map.

I'm doing the half again. I was shooting for getting under two hours but I messed up my knee somehow at Kirkland and have only done a handfull of runs since then. I ran on Friday and Saturday for short runs and it's feeling better so hopefully I can build up the mileage again.

I'm also doing the half. It'll be my first half and also the first time running in the Seattle Marathon series. The last half of the run looks pretty hilly!

BTW, what does BQ stand for?

BQ stands for Boston Marathon Qualify or BQ for short. Boston is like Kona for runners

If you would like to know more here is a web site that gives the detail

I did the half last year, also my first. I did some hills in training & the HM wasn't too bad. Seemed to be all slightly uphill or downhill which can wear on you if all your training is on the flat. Pace yourself up Galer & Madison, that's the steepest-longest stretch.

I'll be doing my first full in Seattle. I'm hoping for the same weather as last year, dry and cool. I was only able to do the half last year due to an injury which prevented me from training for the full.

Just had a look at the elevation/course map and it doesn't look bad at all. Loving the pretty much flat course from mile 3 to 20.5. Can't complain that's forsure.

those hills are positioned at just the right time to be tough.  At least last year, mile 19-20 is where I started dragging a little bit, and the hills were definitely a challange!
