Jez, now Im paranoid, now when I honk I guess I have to yell something out the window like "Hey, Im not a d-bag but your butt looks great in those shorts honey and are you a good of a cook as you are a runner"  and I can only hope when I look in the rear view mirror I was honking and yelling at a female.

And no, you may not honk, yell, look at, talk to, think of, speak about, nor wish upon my two daughters,  Otherwise I will hunt you down and take your bicycle!

don't be so hard on yourself...not ALL men ARE d-bags, although ALL men do d-bag things at times.

Possibly, but that is just to keep up with the d-bag crap that all women do, in various amounts.

That's probably what you meant, right?

Bripod - 2011-01-05 11:13 AM D-baggery is just a part of what ALL men are. So to clarify: ALL men are part d-bag.

If that is how you think of yourself, no problem. I won't argue.

I know plenty who don't fit your definition of self.

I don't honk.  That being said, I will often make comments to myself when seeing a rather attractive lady out and about exercising.  Unfortunately, the last time I muttered aloud "check out the arse on that one" while driving down the road, my four year old suddenly brought me back to reality with, "Daddy, what does arse mean?"

Working on it.

Bripod - 2011-01-05 2:13 PM  I think you guys are interpreting what I said to mean that ALL men are ONLY d-bags. D-baggery is just a part of what ALL men are. So to clarify: ALL men are part d-bag. How much of a role that part plays in defining each man is on an individual basis.

If thats the case then all women are part witch with a capital B

I'll cop to that I certainly have my moments.

But witch(B) and DBag are not the same thing witch(B) is more akin to a jerk with and A and an H. a Dbag has a sexual component to it that withch(B) does not.

Really? I have not considered that aspect of d-baggery. Of course, I'm from a different generation than most of you kids.

dang!  can i buy a vowel-------and I'd like to solve the puzzle!!!

i would like to add, i live out in the country a bit.  and the thing i find most annoying are the rednecks in their souped-up Diesel pickup trucks that coast up silently behind me at about 40mph, then NAIL the gas pedal so i get the shizzle scared out of me and then engulfed by a nice black cloud of soot.  i handily show them my appreciation for their behavior.

also, I've been honked and hollared at by chics in cars.  it doesnt bother me. but i would never do the same to them.

Speaking as a man, I don't honk or yell or whatever.

If I was going to give an encouraging sort of honk, I would do it once I'm past the person, rather than behind or alongside, which tends to induce heart attacks. But I probably wouldn't do it to a woman at all since I would worry that she would think it was the "yow yow mama" kind of honk rather than a "I admire you for your hard work" kind of honk. It is pretty hard to tell the difference.

The closest I've seen of non-related adults getting in an actual physical altercation have involved bicyclists and motorists. There are just some motorists who hate bicyclists and will try to run you off the road. These are the guys who will harass women runners/bikers. They are not men, they are scum.

I want to go on record as saying I thoroughly enjoy the honk followed by compliments from cars full of ladies.
Sure, it only happened a few times this year, but I don't mind the ego gettin' stroked every now and then!
Nothing wrong with a good catcall every now and then!

There is no excuse for what the OP experienced. If I were a woman and it happened more than once, I would probably start carrying a handgun when running. I'm not joking and I'm not exaggerating. Also, if I were tempted to engage in such d-baggery, I would be mindful of the number of female CHL-holders in my zip code (it's a large number here).

I get the occasional "get off the road" when on the bike, and infrequent yelling when I'm running. It's random enough--and I've been riding long enough--that I largely ignore it.

SWIM2LIVE - 2011-01-04 9:56 PM Wow, I tap my horn all the time, but not for gender specific reasons.  In fact today I was on a very long and lonely stretch of freeway, way out in the middle of the desert, and saw three cyclists on the other side of the road, when I hadn't even seen another car for hours.

I tapped the horn twice followed by a thumbs up, hopefully letting them know I recognize and support their efforts.

But then I wave at most riders while I am out riding too.

You sexist pig!

To the OP I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.
