I'll probably be back also (if I ever start exercising again).  The race was good but I had major emotional ups and downs during the run.

This is the "official" RaceTalk thread, at least it's the one connected to the RaceNexus entry.

Kylie and I are volunteering too. I think we are body marking in the morning and then helping in transition after that. Should be fun!

Well it looks like Kylie and I won't be able to volunteer after all. For some reason I am a moron and thought the race was the 15th. We will be in Odessa visiting my mom the weekend of Ironstar. Sorry kids! Wish we could make it.

OK, I finally signed up. It'll be the longest endurance race I've entered since the mid 80's and my first 1/2 IM. No turning back now....

Still contemplating racing...I'm doing the 70.3 champs 2 weeks later, so not sure it's a very good idea...
will be there, though!!!!
Wish there was an Aquabike, as that'd be a great tuneup. I just hate the idea of going there to just do the swim/bike and not doing the run. But, I'd like to support the race....

Only 23 days out from this one. Really excited about this and especially since IT band issue has subsided. Lost some running time last month but I can now run pain free again. Look foward to meeting some of you out there, hopefully there will be a group gathering of some kind.

I'll be staying at the host hotel (Del Largo) and will be getting there on Friday p.m. If anyone is up to a short open water swim or easy bike "walk" let me know.

Be prepared to porpoise a bit in the middle of the swim if it's anything like last year. The lake was pretty low and there was a section about 1/3 of the way in where you were wading through a shallow spot. Definitely get out and spot the course before hand. Last year, I didn't have a chance to get out and swim it and you can't see the course from the shore. That made navigation a complete pain and I had to hope that everyone around me knew where they were going.

For what it's worth, here's the bike elevation profile, per Bones In Motion:

BIM shows 1,656 feet of climbing (and descending, of course)
