Let's see-who all has a race coming up? Stuart has a race this weekend, right? Who else. Gotta put these on my calendar so I can cheer, although people do look at me when I do this. Teehee.

I have a spin/brick session with the tri group, then a meeting for the club today. I ordered a team tri top and shorts for the first time, yahoo! I plan to wear them at all my races. Fun to be involved for the first time in the several years I have been a member.

Best wishes to all of you!

Jan

Monty that injury sounds BRUTAL.  Swimming is a good plan.

My first race isn't until June and that's my A race - the HIM.  Races don't start here until around May and even then most are either indoor pool swim sprints or duathlons.  The real tris begin late May.  I doubt I'll do one before.  I *may* do a half mary before my race but still not sure.

All right! Jaelin and Stuart best to you both this weekend. Uhh, hate to be stupid but, Stuart do you have time change in Australia? Anyway, if you do and Jaelin, don't forget about the time change on Sunday! That would suck.

Marcia and Brandon, the best to you in training! I just wish it would get warm!

Had a good spin session yesterday and then went to the club meeting. Bought some nice winter club gear at super prices and then promptly spilled a glass of red wine on my new clothes and the white jacket I was wearing! Bummer.

Swim today!

Best to everyone!

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend and go get some training time to the rest of you!

We start Spring Break here in Texas this weekend so I'll be out of touch on family vacation.  See you on the back side of the week...

Just did two loops around the Apt. Complex on my TRIATHLON bike. Its getting alot better the more I'm on the bike and I have all most mastered getting off the bike moving. Its a lot harder when the seat is higher then your norman mouton bike. Have a ? for all. When do you start to feel comfortable getting in Aero at high rate of speed as a beginner?

A time change as in daylight saving? No not in Queensland (the state I live in). Down south they do. I don't think it ends down there until the first weekend in April or something.

I have put in a solid week this week and so I am feeling a bit more confident going into next weekend's race. Would have prefered more time on the bike, but with the weather and putting it into the shop, I know I'm gunna struggle on that mongrel of a hill again. I'm actually looking forward to the run, I've been working hard on my running this month.

Anyway, hope everyone else is smashing out killer workouts!

Hi everyone. Race today was really good.

A sprint 750m/20km/5km in 1:08:37.

Swim had a bit of a current which helped.

Bike was somewhat windy, but was aero the whole time except on some tight turns and corners.

Run was pretty flat, held back first lap 2.5km, second lap smashed it as hard as a I could. Did just over 22min.

Race report will be complete in the next few days once the results are up.

Hope everyone else's training is awesome.

2 weeks til my first A race! I'm excited.

Have a few ? for all. When do you start to feel comfortable getting in Aero at high rate of speed as a beginner?

Just curious where do you find places to ride with not so much traffic.

Im in JoCo and needing a place to ride for a long way to get used to the new bike. Im new to the sport.

I am lucky I live in quite a small city surrounded by bushland, so it's only about a 10-15min ride for me to get out into the country on the bike, but you still have to pick your times. Early morning is always best. Might be an idea for you to chat to someone at your LBS to see if they organise rides or groups, they would have a pretty good idea of where you can ride I would think.

As far as aero goes, I would imagine everyone is different as to how quickly they get used to it. I've been only riding with aero bars now for a month but they still feel awkward, even though the position itself is comfortable and I can get considerably more speed and power out of my legs on the flat. I do not trust the steering as much with them compared to the drops, not only that, but you cannot break quickly if need be going downhill, so that kind of puts a limit on how far I will "push" it on country roads that aren't overly smooth.

It is a P2 and good eye on the saddle.  They are called Adamo saddles.  There are various ones, road, racing, time trial.  That is a time trial.  I have found that it helps with the numbness that can occur in the netherregions by moving  the pressure points.

It is personal preference on the pedals and shoes.  I like the speedplay just becasue it allows you to clip in on either side.  There is no flipping the pdeal over to clip in.  The problem with them is they are very pricey.  As for shoes, since you are in Johnson County I would go to Elite Cycling.  They seem to have the best selection. The owners are always there and are very helpful.

I'm a klutz so never re: arrow   I do try and get as low as possible but I ride a road bike - no arrow bars.

I go on cycling club websites and see what routes their group rides go on.  I have one in particular that posts awesome maps that are perfect cycling streets.  You could also go on something like mapmyride and search your area and see what other people are riding...  strava might be another site to check out.  Have fun!!

Drinking wine while carrying tri clothes   Funny but sucky at the same time!!

Yesterday was the beginning of spring I believe.  A high of 15 degrees, sunny and I got out on the bike woo hoo!  Hopefully this is the beginning...

Go ride around longview lake. There are quite a few cyclists out there, and most of the time, the cars realize that there is a lot of traffic. You are the KC tri, you will get to spend some time on the course.
