In again!  Thanks to Bill for getting this together for another season of craptastic training fun.  I have a short bike commute to work that I'd like to keep up as long as possible, so this is good motivation.

Always fun to see what kind of run mileage we can rack up in the nastiest of conditions.  I'm doing back-to-back trail marathons on 11/31 - 12/1.  Let's hope it snows sideways in sub-zero temps.  Sealed

Welcome back - how did you recovery from Leadville go?

Recovery went well.  I had some serious buckle hunger after dropping at mile 80 at Leadville, so I raced Hallucination 100 on Michigan trails three weeks later and earned that buckle.  Finished 2nd Overall and 18:41.  I don't think I'll be racing again at 10,000' - 12,500' unless I can live up that high!

That is awesome - congrats - I read your RR for Leadville but didn't see Hallucination - not bad 180 miles in 3 weeks with some training runs in there!

We now know who the early favorite is for this competition!!!!

Sure he has the mileage but this about time. Unfortunately he runs to fast to be much competition.

I shall run for more time this winter -- no more losing to Darren, Lenny, and Bill!

You are an effin' animal or machine. Not sure which yet, though.

Just so everyone knows - Madatory Drug Screening for the winner will take place

I'm fine with that, after all anyone who willing spends that much time outside in crappy weather punishing their body and enjoying it is obviously on something, and I think they should have to share with everyone else.

Now if only I could get someone to share some crappy weather. It is in the 40's and clear this morning, and looks to stay that way for a few more days. Hoping for some rain/snow mix this weekend.

Awesome photo - I will get the kids to take a picture of me this winter pushing my snowbike through the backyard   Pauly and The Pig probably weigh close to the same!

With -12, 10-15 cm of snow, and 20km winds, this is going to be me on my 3 hour run this midmorning. Trying to get me an early lead.

We have some warm weather coming as well, but it is only looking at upper 30's and rain, so I think I'll bet getting the "winter bike" out for a few wet rides. With any luck we will have our usual 15-20 mph winds going again as well.

Well we are heading to the 60's this weekend so I will be pointless for a couple of days.  At least I can sneak some in on a commute in the morning

enjoy that weather Darren!!!

you are a lucky duck to be able to keep riding. I was looking at some of those Fat bikes. Expensive though huh?

You know I got mine for under $2k american - and for how long it will last and how much I will use it I was comfortable with that price.  You can definitely upgrade and get expensive but I have good SRAM products on mine - entry level Salsa Mukluk.

Check that out - Surley Pugsley - Fatback (Alaskan made) - if you go Ti they will get expensive quick!

hmmmm. Just looking at your logs. I always figured I would be sacrificing quite a bit of speed. I got about a 25km commute and I do it in about an hour. I see you are at 32k, you add what, about 10 minutes to your ride with your Mukluk?

If my race would have been this afternoon, I might have had some good points today (32 windy and snow), but alas it was as the front moved in.  Temps dropped from 50 about 1/2 hour before the start to 42 during the race then sub 40 for the awards.

I had a great 1 hour run today, and thought it would earn me some points.  Alas, I just checked the weather for the last 24 hours, and the temperature was too warm by 1 lousy degree. To make it worse, had I left an hour earlier, points would have been earned.

Is it too late to get in on this?  We are just now getting colder weather here in NM.  I'm sure I won't have a chance against the folks up in the midwest states, but it sounds like a fun way to stay motivated!

Logged my first entry, hope I did it right.  I biked 32 minutes the wind was 6-7mph and 37 degrees so I gave myself 1 point for light wind and 1 point for sub 40 bike for a score of 64?  Hope that is right.
