Sunny
Total Time = 1h 34m 11s
Overall Rank = /
Age Group = Clydesdale
Age Group Rank = 6/18
Pre-race routine:

Little bit a rush to get setup despite arrive 1 hour early. Parking is not close (by over a mile) and check-in + transition was crowded.
Swim
  • 19m 50s
  • 600 meters
  • 03m 19s / 100 meters
Comments:

Rushed wade-in. Plenty of fold still on land when group started. For a fairly well-organized race this was disappointing. Very uncomfortable swim, never got in a groove.

BTW please don't run the 2-cycle pontoons and put gas/oil in the water around the swimmers.
What would you do differently?:

Not inhale mega-water after getting elbowed by faster swimmers. Happened 3x. really wierd, this doesn't normally happen to me.
Transition 1
  • 02m 39s
Comments:

They had wetsuit strippers which saved a little time. I killed compared to my group.
Bike
  • 41m 12s
  • 20 kms
  • 29.13 km/hr
Comments:

Passed, passed, passed folks. Disappointed with the overall mph. 4th in the group but I felt like I was doing better.
What would you do differently?:

Ride with faster folks.
Transition 2
  • 02m 34s
Comments:

Long run w/bike with heavy racer traffic from dismount. Transition was a real unique feature of this course.
What would you do differently?:

Nada. This was a good time for this rack & conditions.
Run
  • 27m 54s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 35s  min/km
Comments:

Ok time but not competitive with the FOP for the group.
What would you do differently?:

I think I bonked due to hills on the ride.
Post race
Warm down:

Chaos due to the limited space.

Event comments:

Cool course but spectators make it cramped at the pinch point. this race neeeds some big tweeks to make it a classic.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!

Experts agree, doing a “mock,” triathlon on the course you’re racing can aid you in your training; performance and most of all quell some nervous energy.
