Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Panama City so thanks alot guys. it was a fast current swim. even better than augusta! transitions were long but that was ok.
the bike i was expecting to be easier but the many u-turns and on-ramps along with the wind and increasing heat and humidity were tough. at 265 w on avg, i was well below what i normally (aka 290ish w ) shoot for to help myself on the run.
the run was just plain unfair. 90+ degrees, excessive humidity and no shade. think sauna outta t2. all this plus training in sub 30 degrees most of the build.
wind was high but that to me was a problem i some ways but helped when it was behind you.
i basically had a find your legs for 1-2 miles then drop to race pace for 10 and kill the final mile. however, all i could do was stay easy to get it done with a slight pickup at the end.
all in all, id say it was unique, fun, challenging, but hot as hell. the swim alone makes me want to go back though! |
