I had a really good first week of marathon training. my 10K went surprisingly well and then the icing on the cake was getting in a 17-miler the day after followed by 12 today. Which means 39 miles in 3 days. I think my fitness is creeping back. Just in time, too!

I'll post my RR shortly.

THINK?

Took Harry in to the LBS for a tune-up. It's where we bought the bike, but I don't go in often so not a close relationship. Gave my name and the owner says "Oh, you're doing Barn Burner, right?" Then we talked about the course a bit and that Harry needs to get back in shape for it. Took me by surprise until I realized he started following on Strava. Funny how small the world becomes.

Hey all.  Ermegerd, I've been under water (except not swimming - until this morning!).  Sorry to be STILL absent.  Have a couple minor niggles that might be actual injuries, but I'm taking myself off the DL until something changes (like my knee says…. NOPE).    Hopeful that I can start building back up after losing much of my fitness base - but I'll truly be happy if I can just get mvoing consistently again!

Ran yesterday and swam today (I've found my new Walden!  Yay!  Barton Springs at dawn is just soooooooooo very very).  So, Austin is good, but it's been busy.  Back at the working out now, thankfully (but work has been even more thankfully FUN - absolutely loving the new gig, even if it's been cra-cra busy).

I WILL catch up over the next week, but can't tonight (yep, too much to do).  Crazy different down here, but actually all good so far (keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but it hasn't yet!!!!!).

So, with this thread equivalent of a photo-bomb, I hope y'all are well and I am looking forward to reengaging!

Best,

Matt

(just wanted to prove I'm still alive and post this).

Hey kids! Just a quick post to say yay to all the racing manatees!! Seems like you all had a great time . I am in Vancover now. Will be heading home late Wednesday and going right into detox as my over really hates me now! So does my checking account and I'm pretty sure I'wont be able to fit into anything but yoga pants for awhile, but this vacation has been worth it!I'll try to catch up later.

I would like to announce some good news - Dad is finally feeling good enough to get his meals on his own again, so my sister and I are relieved of meal duties!  I am still going to help take him to some of his appointments, but just those that aren't easy for him to get to himself, driving-wise.  He has an appointment today that we will be going to in a bit.  I'm so glad for him that he's finally better.  I didn't chronicle all his ups, downs and setbacks along the way, but that poor man has been through hell and back.  I was really worried about his mental state for while, he was that frustrated and in that much pain, but thankfully that is behind us now.  I pray it stays that way.  Thanks to the manatees for any prayers, good thoughts, or well-wishes you may have passed along to him.

Good morning Manatees!

Jonathan TX - Nice bike!  I'm glad to hear that your LBS is taking care of you and you'll have a wheel to use for Hotter'n Hell this weekend.

Matt - Welcome back!  I'm glad that you are off the DL!  Woo hoo!

Hands - I'm glad to hear that your trip has been awesome thus far!  I still want to see a photo of you in the spiffy blue rain pants ;-)

Melanie - Great news about your Dad's improvement!

Finally got actual pictures from a friend who picked up my new TT bike from the LBS. I had it sent to the LBS by a friend so it could be assembled. It is a 2013 Specialized Shiv Elite Apex. I have not actually seen it nor rode it, but less than 30 days now.

I leave Vancouver Wednesday morning. We are about to head out to Granville (?) island. This morning I ran along the sea wall into Stanley park. You sure do have a nice place to run!

Nice!  Granville Island is great, lots to see and do.  Just make sure you protect your lunch from the seagulls!

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
