An update from me as well. I've had a couple of on site workdays, and have been flying solo in the office with my primary co-worker taking vacation this week. So, a little less time on BT this week, which probably isn't a bad thing either. I have been seeking out different running venues, with Wednesday being a bit of a bust (too short). Also, I've been taking some time on the trails on my old MTB. I'll be meeting a friend up in Venice on Monday morning for another ride. I've got to admit, the offroad stuff has been a blast.

In news from TW, we bid on a will package at a fundraiser last Christmas. Come to find out it included a skydive opportunity in it as well. Soooo, tomorrow she will be exiting a moving plane at 10,000 or so feet, strapped to someone else. Never a dull moment trying to keep up with her!

Enjoy the weekend.

Holy Hell! I just can't fathom doing this. But everyone I know who has done it said it was the most amazing thing ever.

Even today where it was a little on the cool side and the roads were wet I was still enthusiastic about getting out there. I made an effort to keep it light and easy as I have my race coming up this sunday and I was tired. Despite the lackadaisical effort I managed to knock down 12 PR's on a 30km route I havent run since last year. It appears as though TrainerRoad and are starting to pay dividends. Still a long way to go but happy with the progress.

Progress is always fun and rewarding to see, keep up the good work!  And kudos for keeping up your every day goal.

Your wife is one cool chick!  Hope she enjoys herself, what an experience!  And cool for you seeking out new run venues and getting out on the MTB.  A little change-up is usually a very good thing for the soul.

Thanks for this information Salty as my mum and I were just looking at options around this yesterday seeing as it is heading into winter here. I have one and it gets so hot that I can't run in it, but it is great reflective fabric so it's for for in the low light conditionas in traffic. I have been thinking that I might take the sleeves out of it and make it sleeveless to cut down the heat factor.

Not a bad idea. Or even cut and sew in something like a pit zip (mins the zipper unless you are a good seamstress)

putting the zip in wouldn't be a problem (thanks to a past life) but I think I would get more use out of sleeveless.

There's an Indonesian company called Eiger that makes really great stuff ... nothing's truly waterproof but the stuff Kingsley and I have will keep you relatively dry and and not soaked from sweat either even in torrential tropical downpour. I'll look back in the thread but if you could PM me your measurements and the features you want it to have I'll send something back with Kingsley. He won't be back 'til May 12 though.

So much excitement bubbling around the pod lately!
Chris - you and TW always have such adventures, and I can't wait to hear how the skydiving goes.
Dave - glad to hear TrainerRoad is working out for you! I may need to look into that someday.
TJ - hope you get a favorable forecast.

An update from me is mostly about other people. I have a friend who's wife suffered a miscarriage last weekend. This makes their second. My mom's eye surgery has wound up being a total bust. The pressure is back to where it was before, and the doc is completely stumped. In better news for her, the PT for her frozen shoulder is working.
I guess one little thing about me: I got a random email from a company that saw my resume on Indeed (which I had put up there a couple years ago) and now I have a call with them in about an hour. I'm not really sure how to feel about this, as I have been really unhappy at work, but this company reaching out to me doesn't seem particularly stable. Still, doesn't hurt to talk to them for a couple minutes, right?!

Especially if you are unhappy at work!

Glad Mom's shoulder is better, hope they find answers for the eye soon.

Miscarriages suck. I have 3 siblings. All 4 of us have experienced either a miscarriage or an infant death. My heart breaks for those dealing with that hurt. Prayers for your friends.

It doesn't hurt at all. It may help, especially if you are unhappy. However, the stability of the company may be an issue, especially given where you currently stand in life (or where The Giraffe is anyway).  Good Luck!

Rough new like that of your friend sux. I am very sorry for her loss.

My hubby has a cool cycling jacket that has removable sleeves. It has these tiny magnets. though, no hood ... but it is pretty neat. It's a Louis Garneau model.

Though for rain, I find a hat with a visor the best thing to do. I don't mind being wet but when it's dripping into my eyes, that's when it becomes unbearable.

x2 to everything said. It's hard not to carry the pain of others

And definitely sometimes just knowing there are other opportunities out there can help in making a bad situation not feel so terrible. I hope it goes well! :D

GO MANATEE RACERS!

I'm not racing. I'm on the DL. Sadly. I've been so ill for 3 weeks that I'm still coughing through most of the night. I get sleep in 2-3 hour cycles at most before waking up in a coughing fit.

This cough is no respecter of codeine, even.

Flu (not little coldy, I mean influenza) followed by sinusitis and bronchitis. Hurts to breathe

Yanti--

Sounds like you're all ready for Vietnam 70.3 then! That's pretty much where I was last year the night before the race. Only one can't hit the codeine the night before a HIM. I swear, I am going to put myself in a bubble for the next two weeks.

Hope you are feeling better soon! 3-4 weeks "should" be the statute of limitations on this kind of stuff.

The running aspect of an Ironman triathlon is a marathon. Most people take on a marathon as a single event and the training for this uses up a lot of their time. Here are some tips for the run.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
