Subject: RE: Housing and Cables if your brake cable snapped after a year, you are riding with corrosive conditions. Probably a lot of rain, or sweat.
So it is not unusual to have the cables deteriorate. Especially if you have internal routing in the frame.
For example, on my Cervelo P2c, sweat drips down into the top tube on the rear brake cable and it will rot the cable internally, and then of course snap if I don't replace it in time.
Also chains need to be replaced otten if you are putting a lot of miles on the bike. Chains are cheap compared to overall drivetrain. They will destroy your gears if you let the chain wear go and also if you don't clean and lube your chain often.
