Hello, my quiet friends! Any New Year celebrations planned?

Hockey game and then home for bubbly.

Then up "early" tomorrow.  Gotta get my run in before the Tournament of Roses Parade starts (11 o'clock our time).

Then, on Thursday, rejoining the working world and, hopefully, rebooting the Manatees group!

Well then, I hope you have a blast with hockey and bubbly!

nothing special.  you?

Same as the past few years, I'll be at work. I may be done before 12, but probably not until 1:00 am. Year-end processing. yippie.

But, afterward I'll meet TW for breakfast, so that is pretty cool!

I love going out for breakfast!  OK, I just love breakfast period.

Sometimes I go to sleep early so I can have breakfast sooner.

I might have breakfast right now. I kinda need it, owing to no dinner. Thanks for your kind words.

One of the local churches started a midnight 5K  on new year's eve a couple of  years ago.   Thinking about doing it tonight.  The temperature should be right around freezing.   It's called the Millennium Run.  I've no other plans so might as well.

HAPPY NEW YEAR MANATEES!!!

I hope your 2014 is filled with many of God's blessings!

Quiet night at a BBQ with friend for us last night, but we didn't make it to midnight - we never do

And now what a great morning the sun is shining without it being stinking hot, I have a cup of tea and I'm sitting here in the quiet listening to my dogs snore and the birds sing. All in all a fantastic way to start any day.

That's a pretty cool idea.  I did a New Year's Day 5k last year in Seattle.  Holiday races are great.

I'm so sad. I tried to rescue a kitten but it died anyway. Like, in my hands. It was so tiny. Our driver buried it.

My mom's Doberman, Dana, is crazy old rickety so we were reluctant to have her tumors operated on, but one of them went gangrenous so it came off this morning. She's doing great, but is totally freaked out by all the firecrackers so I doped her up with codeine and antihistamine. Vet approved, of course. She was doing fine for pain relief with Rimadyl (which she takes anyway for arthritis) but the cod/phen won't hurt her and will hopefully make her sleep through the ruckus.

Too upset to eat dinner. Not even Pop Tarts. I feel terrible.

Thank you for trying and for laying it to rest.  Poor wee bubba.

Glad to hear Dana is doing well after surgery.  I had a dog that also hated fireworks.  I never found a sedative strong enough for him...

Sounds like everyone has tame plans for NYE.  Us as well.  We are going to see a movie, then we will come home and wait for midnight to shout happy new year at the cul-de-sac neighbors.  Be safe, all

For the Manatees, I'll put up an open-group thread in the holding pen and it'll go live Jan 2 or Jan 3.

You rock! I hope all is well on the Funny Farm (or Jakarta, or Perth, or wherever you may be).

I hope everyone is recovering from their NY Eve celebrations, and getting the New Year started right!

There is some awesome stuff in there!

The flip-flop one made me think "really? you're going to extend the life of a flip flop?"

Speaking of flip-flops... I thought of you this morning when I discovered that I forgot to bring "regular" shoes with me. I had to pack for the gym with swim, run and work clothes. Fortunately my regular shoes are all that I missed so I am sporting my Brooks at work today. Not optimal but at least I'm wearing jeans and don't have any meetings at the USAO or court

Lol, it's been at least a month since the last time I wore flip flops to work! Of course, I've been off for about 2 weeks in that month

Near the end of one of my long runs, I noticed my left hip aching. There was a slight pop with each step. The hip was sore for 2 days after the run.
