Hi, Pod.  Quick check-in after my race.  It went great!!  I ended up finishing 13/24 in my AG with a finish time of 1:43:50.  Really happy with the swim (7/24!!), bike was ok, run was slower than planned but ok.  It was pretty hot by the time I got onto the run and there was no shade.  If I'd gone any faster, I'm sure I would have gotten the typical cramps/nausea.  The biggest glitch was T1 when my wetsuit got caught on my timing chip and I couldn't get the dang thing off.  Argh!!!  Oh, and I know I was well-hydrated because I managed to pee all over myself throughout the run.   Guess I'm officially a triathlete now!!!!!

I'll write a race report later.  I have a Broncos game to watch and a nap to take.

Yea it did, The race finishes at the top of Rocky Mount (pretty big climb for us) and I made it up the mountain in 4th and we were starting the sprint when it happen. I was close to max effort and ready to go all out then boom. The real crazy thing is the guy that hit me went around me and ended up taking 2nd

Great job up until you got clobbered, Jonathan!!  I'm amazed that the guy who hit you not only survived but took 2nd.  Clearly, though, you were ready for this race and I hope to see some top finishes out of you!!  I'm really glad you're okay.  Too bad there isn't bike insurance like car insurance so the guy who crunched your wheel would have had to replace it.  Now that you've gotten experience carrying your bike, you *could* start working on cyclocross.  Ooh, an opportunity to get a new bike!

Giro Air Attack helmets are going for $140ish on Amazon right now, FYI.  Just gone one.  I can be aero and not have a helmet with a tail!

Fyi, on a TT type setup these types of helmets look worse than about any tail I've seen.

Originally posted by JJ- Well I survived my first road race. Some of you have seen on strava but for those that aren't it went really well right up until the end. I stayed in the lead pack the entire race and with 1000 meters to go I positioned myself about 3-4 back for the sprint. With 600 meters to go someone hit me hard from behind and broke my rear wheel. I stayed upright but my wheel was totally locked up. My race was over. Had to get off and carry my bike the last 1/2 mile. While it's not how I wanted to finish the day I did finish. It was fun and I've really improved on the bike over the last few months.

Tejas, you have been a bicycling animal lately. Great job on all the rides that have taken you to this point. I really like your outlook on the race in general. Keep after it, keep growing, getting stronger and learning. I have to believe there is a big piece of these races that is strategic and it seems to me that you'll figure out a whole bunch of that pretty quickly.

Woah.

So much going on here. So many races and good stuff.

Congrats to all you movers and shakers.

I did the worst race of my life ever yesterday.I didn't drown (but almost did- literally) AND I am hooked.

AND I trained but not keeping up my training log does not allow for much analyzing of what I could do differently. I guess I'm going to have to start doing that.

I even wrote a race report. I don't know how to show you where it is though.

Like Wondermoose I've just had a lot of trouble accessing the site, opening threads, and posting to them for about a week, 10 days now.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
