Thanks. I'm so pleased I finished so I didn't have to decide whether to try again or not. Whew!

Hey folks, if you're ever looking for a fun, super challenging race, head up to Duluth next October for the Wild Duluth races. Here's my report from the Harder 'n Hell half marathon. There's a 50k and 100k as well. All on the Superior Hiking Trail.

Very funny!  I think you had a great race - what's this baloney about being last?    I thought there were FAR too few potties at this race.    Do you think the swim was long? 6 minutes is a lot.

I'll second all three of these comments! That's a great race overall, and if you're passing plenty of people from prior waves, you were moving. I think the swim course was long too, but I have no idea because my watch didn't record any distances or paces all day for me. It only gave me time, current HR and current speed. It would make sense given the strong NE wind may have pushed the buoys further out. And RE the port-a-johns, holy smokes... I had to pee about half way through the first loop of the bike. I still haven't trained myself to go on the bike, so I just sucked it up and pressed on, thinking there might be one at a bottle drop. I was wrong... and an hour and a half later I made it back to transition and used the potty there. On the run, however, i discovered why eating spicy wings on Friday for lunch is a really bad idea before a Saturday race. Within a half mile of leaving transition, I had a sense of impending colonic doom. But as Shaun mentioned, I clearly remember there being port-a-johns on the run. An hour later when I reached the turn around, I was reaching emergency status. I found a mountain bike trail and bolted 30 yards up the trail and out of view.  It really sucked and the mosquitoes were unbelievable, but I felt much better (at least from that standpoint). Port-a-johns would have been nice...

Graniteman St cloud.

Perfect weather today for a race, I would suggest this race for people new to the sport and competitors.

Thanks for the comments. I think the swim was long or it was short in 2012... Portapotties are critical especially with so many people like me being over the hill.

Here's a report for the Rocherferst Olympic Tri in Rochester, MN.  The race is worth checking out if you don't have another good option closer to home.

Liberty Half-Ironman

Finally...my first race report in a while, but I figured it would be good to review the good, the bad, and the ugly so I have something tangible to review for IMMOO

Good luck at IMOO! That's a great race. Sounds like you have solid ideas of what to change. Those spicy meals sure come back to haunt you! My coach for IMOO warned against peeing on the bike as any error leaves you with chafing...on an Ironman.

You'll be ready and do great at IMOO!
